Advantages. 1. No groin wound with reduced post-operative pain. 2. No stripping of thigh vein and in turn less bruising. 3. Earlier return to work and daily activities.   As this is a new, and in my opinion a better technique, the long-term results are not known. At one year the recurrence rate are, if anything, better than with the traditional stripping method. It is more expensive that the traditional method and therefore not all insurance companies will cover the procedure. Nevertheless, I believe that it will be come the procedure of choice in the imminent future.
